Things to know before buying a designer gown

Big designer names are expensive for a reason, the fabric for one, is outrageously expensive. Labor costs also add to the sum, shipping costs, ads in magazines, fashion shows, as well as the exclusive boutiques you buy them from. Who pays for that? You do. Let's be honest, salespeople at fine boutiques work on commission- I should know having worked in several while putting myself through fashion school.

These gorgeous gowns are by fashion genius Oscar de la Renta

Now, it's perfectly fine if you wish to get a designer dress, but please make sure it fits perfectly and reflects your style.

One thing I have to warn you about is buying a dress on the spot. Unless you are alone and absolutely stunned the moment you see the dress, and you fall in love with the dress even before trying it on, I recommend you sleep on it. Most women confess they chose a dress while in company of friends and parents, later to realise they aren't completely happy with it, it just wasn't what they originally wanted.

Be strong enough to say no, walk away, and think about it overnight.
